Course Description
Lighting systems are a fundamental component of electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Proper installation of luminaires, lampholders, and lamps is essential to ensure electrical safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with the NFPA 70: National Electrical Code.
This 6-hour continuing education course provides electricians with a detailed review of Article 410 – Luminaires, Lampholders, and Lamps. Participants will explore the code requirements governing installation methods, support and mounting, thermal protection, wiring methods, grounding, and special applications such as recessed lighting and luminaires in damp or hazardous locations.
The course emphasizes practical field applications, common installation errors, and real-world troubleshooting scenarios. Participants will also learn how modern lighting technologies—including LED luminaires—affect installation practices and NEC compliance.
Upon completion, electricians will have a stronger understanding of how to install and maintain lighting equipment safely while meeting NEC requirements.
