Part 1: Article 670 Industrial Machinery
Course Description
This course is intended to provide the Electrical Licensee / Business Permit Holder an indication of the manufacturing scenarios surrounding the Wood, Fencing, Candy and Plastics in New Jersey as examples. With supporting machinery that fabricates those mentioned above along with Food and Chemical processes, it would describe to the participant for the scope of power driven equipment. Power Point examples through the computer for Zooming or in Person classes, Photo support of American made verse Offshore made machinery and their electrical requirements. Review the do’s and don’ts examples of the electrical Controls portions and its nameplate current protection that it is required to maintain the integrity within the machinery.
Objectives
The Electrical participant will apply the correct supply conductors and overcurrent / short circuit protection to motors, devices and operations within the equipment or apparatus.
The Electrical participant will review some of the key Nameplate information.
The Electrical participant will be able to better describe to their workers or customer base the electrical system that which supports the particular and proprietary machines’ operation.
Part 2: Articles 700.5, 700.6, 700.7-Transfer Equipment, Signals & Signs
Course Description
This course is intended to provide the Electrical Licensee / Business Permit Holder an overview of the Automatic Transfer Switch (700.5)to be identified for Emergency use. Under (700.6) Signals are included for proper indications as it relates to the Transfer Switch. Under (700.7) describes to the participant the required signage for the Automatic Transfer Switch. Power Point examples through the computer for Zooming or in Person classes Photo support of what is described above for 700.5, 700.6 & 700.7. Discussions on something missing or not being implemented upon plan review or an Inspection by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Objectives
The Electrical participant will identify under (700.5) and be described under sub items (A) thru (E).
The Electrical participant shall review the requirements for audible and visual signals for the Automatic Transfer
Switch along with sub items (A) thru (D).
The Electrical participant will be able to describe the requirements for (700.7) and apply sub items (A) thru (B)
to the Automatic Transfer Switch.
Instructor
Shawn Gianella is a former multi tradesman who owned his service and contracting business for close to 3
Decades. He was one of the youngest Electrical Inspectors in the State at the time. He started teaching in the 80’s
and 90’s part time in public and private VoTechs. He emphasized the proper training of new workers and
apprentices as a consultant for a trade publication in the early 90’s. He instructs with old timer solid methods in
keeping one’s mind open and not just as someone writing on how to improve business that never spent a day in the
