The New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy announced a new requirement starting with the license renewal period ending November 30, 2022: in addition to 2 credits of ethics, licensees must also complete one credit of laws and rules pertinent to the practice of massage and bodywork therapy in New Jersey. This is now a requirement for every license renewal cycle.

About the course:
The course starts with a history and background of massage therapy and then explains why regulation and licensing of the profession is beneficial. Instructor Dr. Toni LaSala, reviews regulations and statutes in an organized way that should help any NJ MT to better understand his/her requirements, responsibilities and the law on which a NJ MT license is based.
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Explain general NJ requirements for licensure/relicensure
- Explain where to find details about NJ licensing rules and requirements
- Identify what actions are included in the NJ MT’s Scope of Practice.

About the Instructor: Toni LaSala, PhD, LMT, NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-EP-C, RYT, ACE -GEI, Integrated Stretch Coach (NASM), Health and Wellness Coach. A Licensed Massage Therapist, Toni has taught Exercise Physiology and related topics in academia as well as massage schools for over 30 years. She has also taught myofascial release, stretching, massage techniques, ethics and other continuing ed topics to licensed healthcare professionals for many years. She has implemented and managed fitness and wellness programs in fitness centers, in Global Fortune 500 corporations, in hospitals and chiropractic centers, as well as for children with learning disabilities. Toni has been a researcher, student advisor, corporate consultant, scholarly presenter and published author of peer-reviewed articles. She has 21 certifications in fitness and health coaching, most recently as a certified pickleball coach with PPR and a member of USA Pickleball.
Requirements to attend a live webinar:
- You will need a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer to view it. If using a smartphone or tablet, it is best to have the app for the program on your device (i.e. Zoom, GoToWebinar).
- To verify your continued attendance during the class, you will need a microphone, webcam or the ability to type into the program’s live chat.
- Instructors or school personnel will take attendance periodically throughout the class.
- Instructors may call on participants.
- To verify attendance, a code word may be given sometime during the class.
- You will be required to complete and return an evaluation after the course has ended. The evaluation may ask what code word was given.
- You may not receive your Certificate of Completion if we cannot verify your attendance.
