2 CEUs for Chiropractors and NJ Massage Therapists *
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has been tracking multiple cases of monkeypox in the US. This virus, which is in the same viral family as smallpox, is very rare but recently has been in the news due to the increase in cases. The CDC urges healthcare providers to be on the lookout for monkeypox symptoms, including oral lesions. It is important that all healthcare providers to be educated about this virus so they can properly identify signs and symptoms of monkeypox in patients (or others they may interact with). This program will discuss the monkeypox viral biology, transmission, diagnosis, preventive vaccination, treatment of monkeypox and the role of the healthcare provider in limiting the transmission.
*Continuing Education Approvals: For NJ chiropractors, the course is approved because The Institute for Continuing Education is a Pre-Approved Provider/Sponsor with the NJ Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Chiropractors in other states may receive CE credit if their state recognizes PACE; The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the PACE Program of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards. For NJ massage therapists, this course is not approved by the NCBTMB; it is, however, approved for NJ Massage Therapists under Section 13:37-4.2(a) (i)(xiii) of the New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy regulations.
