Advanced Cupping for Sciatica




Prerequisite:  6- hour Cupping or 8-hour Cupping-Theory and Hands-On Practice on Back, Knee, Shoulder and Face taken at The Institute for Continuing Education or similar fundamental Cupping course taken elsewhere.

4 CEUs for Massage Therapists, NJ Chiropractors and Athletic Trainers

Consider taking Advanced Cupping for Knee and Shoulder on the same day (1:30-5:30pm). Complimentary lunch will be offered to anyone staying for both classes.

The Advanced Cupping for Sciatica course will provide advanced cupping instruction specific to treatment of sciatica for those who have taken Cupping at The Institute for Continuing Education (or comparable basic cupping coursework elsewhere). You will learn the benefits of cupping for sciatica, and the benefits of using hijama versus silicone cups. Hijama biomagnetic cups will be used in two separate patterns on the sciatic nerve, primarily for pain relief.  There will also be discussion of the benefits of combining hijama cupping with the use of a gua sha tool. This is a hands-on course that will involve giving and receiving treatment as well as proper cleaning and sanitization of the cups.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate two techniques for proper placement of hijama cups for cupping treatment of the sciatic nerve
  • Perform cupping of the sciatic nerve proficiently
  • Describe how this cupping modality feels on that part of the body
  • Demonstrate proper care and cleaning of cups

SUPPLIES: Please bring the following items with you: fitted bed sheet or massage table sheet, flat sheet for draping and a bath towel. Dress comfortably. Massage tables and cupping equipment will be provided.

About the Instructor – Agatha Repice

Certified in Cupping by the International Cupping Therapy Association, Agatha Repice is the owner/operator of Clean Clear Body in South Hackensack, NJ. A Licensed Massage Therapist who is also certified in nutritional health and holistic health, she practices Cupping, Nutritional Counseling, Acupressure Therapy, Hwal Gong and other modalities.
