You should print this manual out and bring it to class with you or if you are attending by live webinar have it available day of class . Directions on how to prepare for this class are attached as well. 

This program includes a review class and the exam if attending at our school if you are taking the live webinar from your location option you will pay for your online test separately.  Program Does NOT include lunch, you may bring your lunch or you will be given ample time to go out and get your lunch.

Attend at our School:  Tuition: $250.00 **Tuition includes Exam. Please bring photo identification as well as a calculator to class. You will not be able to use your phone calculator. You will have 4 hours for instruction, lunch for 30 minutes and then 2 hours to complete the exam.

Attend by Live Webinar: Tuition: $199.00. Tuition covers 4 hours of instruction. You will be responsible to pay for your exam separately. We will send you the link to ESCO’s website where you can take the exam online if you would like to do so.

To attend via Live Webinar from  your location: Please view the live webinar using a laptop, iPad, or desk top. You will need internet connection. You will receive the link to the webinar 2 days prior to the class.  This is a LIVE Webinar, please be ready for class 10 minutes prior and available for the duration of the program.  You will receive a separate email with the online testing information which will need to be paid for when enrolling to take your online test.

 

REVIEW YOUR MANUAL PRIOR to class: this test is difficult and requires you to read and review the downloadable manual.

 

As of January 1, 2018 all Technicians who handle refrigerants must become EPA 608 certified. Regulated refrigerants will only be sold to Certified Technicians.

In order to become certified to purchase and handle refrigerants, technicians must take a class and pass the EPA refrigeration examination. There are three types of EPA refrigerant certifications:

*Type I Certification: Servicing small appliances

*Type II Certification: high-pressure refrigerants

*Type III Certification: low-pressure refrigerants

*Universal Certification: all parts, Core, Type I, II, and III

 

Technicians receiving a Universal Certification are certified to work on any type of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment except motor vehicle air conditioning.

The EPA 608 exam covers issues and compliance of the EPA 608 refrigeration recycling rules as specified in the Clean Air Act.

This course is designed to review the technical subject areas necessary to prepare HVACR technicians to take and pass an EPA approved refrigerant transition and recovery certification program. The objective of the course is to have attendees achieve a universal certification rating pursuant to the U.S. Clean Air Act (Section 608) Title VI, 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F. Topics to include – EPA Exam Expectations General HVACR Systems Basic Refrigeration Refrigerant Chemistry Refrigerant Oils Ozone Depletion Global Warming Montreal Protocol United States Legislation & Regulations Recovery Recycling & Reclaiming Refrigerants Safe Handling & Transportation of Refrigerants Conservation – Servicing & Testing of Systems Waste Oils High & Low Pressure Chillers Exam Rules Regulations and Structure, Dehydration Evacuation, Safety, and Shipping.

As of  January 1, 2019, owners or operators must submit a report to EPA for any appliance containing 50 or more pounds of refrigerant that leaks 125 percent or more of the full charge in a calendar year. This report must describe efforts to identify leaks and repair the appliance.

This program will cover all the information is all sections of the exam and provide written testing for all sections at the end of the program.

You will have 2 hours to complete the multiple choice exam .  Upon receiving a passing score on all 4 sections of the exam you will receive a Certification card in the mail. It takes approx. 2 weeks to receive your grade/card.
